What Is a Musollah?
A musollah (also spelled musalla, or commonly called a surau) is a small, designated room for Muslim prayer. Unlike a mosque, it is not a standalone religious building — it is a dedicated space within a larger building, set aside for daily prayers.
You will find them inside shopping malls, office towers, hospitals, airports, MRT stations, universities, and community centres across Singapore. Some are large, well-equipped rooms; others are compact spaces with just a mat and a qibla marker.
In Singapore, many commercial and public buildings are strongly encouraged to provide prayer facilities for Muslim occupants and visitors. This makes Singapore one of the more musollah-friendly cities in the world for Muslim travellers and residents alike.
Why Finding One Can Be Tricky
Most musollahs are not listed on Google Maps. Many are on upper floors behind unmarked doors, inside staff-only corridors, or in basement levels that are not obvious to first-time visitors.
Even when you know a building has one, finding the exact floor and room can take time — time you may not have when prayer time is near. A dedicated, crowd-verified directory makes a real difference.
What to Expect Inside
Musollahs vary widely. Each listing on SolatGoWhere shows exactly which facilities are available so you know what to expect before you arrive.
Wudu
Ablution area for ritual washing before prayer. Not all musollahs have dedicated wudu facilities — this tag tells you which ones do.
Prayer mat
Prayer mats are provided on-site. Useful when you are travelling light and don't have your own.
Qibla direction
The direction of Mecca is clearly marked, either on the wall or floor. Essential for first-time visitors to a space.
Separate section
Dedicated, segregated areas for men and women. Common in larger musollahs inside malls and offices.
